Pieces for rooms you actually live in
Ten designs, each produced in a run of no more than four hundred. When a run sells out we rest the piece rather than rush the next batch, so what you see here is what the workshop is genuinely making this season.
Three weeks of work, then it leaves the bench

Timber chosen standing
We buy from one forestry co-operative in Jutland and mark the trees before they are felled. Every board is kiln-dried for eleven weeks, which is slow, and is the reason a Marren table does not cup in a dry apartment.

Joined, not fastened
Frames are mortised and doweled rather than screwed into panel board. It takes a maker roughly three days to build one dining table, and it is the difference between furniture you keep and furniture you kerbside.

Finished by hand
Four coats of hard-wax oil, cut back by hand between each. The finish can be repaired in place with a cloth and a little more oil, so a decade of dinners leaves a patina instead of damage.

Marren began in a rented bay on Refshaleøen with two makers and one dining table. We still work to the same rule: nothing leaves the workshop that we would not want to inherit. That means smaller runs, longer waits and a repair service that outlives the sale.
